Our hammam towels are the perfect towels for the beach, and have been trusty beach bag essentials for many a day trip to the coast. This is a personal list of some of the most beautiful beaches the team at Sorbet have visited over the years and our favourite beaches to lay your hammam towel on.

Kaputas Beach, Turkey

Of course, Kaputas Beach on Turkey’s south coast cannot go without a mention. This is where we first discovered (and fell in love with) traditional Turkish hammam towels. The dramatic cliff faces, azure waters and deep gorge leading to the sandy beach makes for breathtaking scenery. It’s very popular with the locals too, which gives it a relaxed, less-touristy feel, and makes the climb down the long flight of steps well-worth-it.

Patara Beach, Turkey

Another beautiful Turkish beach that we love is Patara Beach. With mile upon mile of beautiful golden sand there’s plenty of space to lay your hammam towel, and it never feels crowded. It’s also home to some beautiful wildlife, including the endangered loggerhead turtles.

Macely Cove, Devon

This one is a personal favourite and a bit of a secret, so shhh keep it quiet! Macely Cove is a beautiful little beach in Devon that is accessed via a short walk along the South West coast path. Once you’ve made the descent down the narrow cliff path, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d emerged onto some exotic Caribbean beach. Sparkling, crystal waters; soft, golden sand; waves gently lapping the shore – it’s a mini paradise. And the great thing is, because there is no car access, you’re likely to have the beach to yourself! It’s one of those situations where your hammam towel is the perfect beach towel. Because it’s such a lightweight towel and quick drying, you don’t need to be bogged down with wet, heavy baggage on the way back up the cliff path.

Kynance Cove, Cornwall

Another UK favourite, you may recognise Kynance Cove from the BBC’s recent adaptation of “And then there were none”. Murder-mysteries aside, this beach is actually a fantastic beach for kids. It’s a short, pram-friendly walk from the carpark down to the friendly beach-side cafe. There are lots of pretty rock pools and caves to explore, including a Mermaid Pool, where (legend has it), a mermaid was once stranded at low tide. It does get quite busy in the summer holidays though, so get there early and spread out your hammam towel to reserve your spot!

Bondi Beach, Sydney

Sydney’s Bondi Beach is the place to see and be seen. One of the world’s most iconic beaches, it’s where the beautiful people go to enjoy the sun, sea and surf. And it’s the perfect place to wear your hammam towel as a chic cover-up in the Aussie sunshine. Or just spread it out as a beach towel and enjoy people watching as you lounge about on the sand.
